Garrison, an Arizona native, currently resides and works from his studio in the remote desert south of Tucson. This environment provides a unique backdrop that influences his artistic practice.
With a passion for artistic expression spanning thirty years, Garrison’s work is marked by an unselfconscious and sweeping style. His creative journey includes striking charcoals depicting scenes from Pamplona, Spain and street vendors in Paris. Beyond these, his representational paintings feature powerful universal symbols, demonstrating an ever-expanding range of thematic interests.
Garrison’s artwork channels the intensity and power of the world, while maintaining a Zen-like respect for all living things and cultures. Through his painting, he seeks to reveal the essence of ideas and his personal interpretations of them. His passion lies in expressing both reality and the interplay of illusion within the human condition, with a continual focus on the conscious evolution of his work.
In his abstract art, Garrison embraces the expressionist style, exploring the dynamic tension between opposing forces such as order and chaos, the conscious and subconscious, and the obvious versus the obscure.
